"Welcome to the Diocese of Bareilly situated in the three districts of Uttar Pradesh state and six districts of Uttaranchal State. On behalf of all the priests, men and women religious, Catechists and lay faithful I extend a hearty welcome to you.

Ours is an active and vibrant diocese marked by missionary enthusiasm. Following the inspiring and relentless pioneering work of Capuchin missionaries of Tibet-Hindustan Mission, this tiny diocese is labouring for the spread of the faith and the progress of the Catholic Church in the virgin and uncharted territories of the Himalayan Mountains.

Out of a total population of 8898990, we are today a small drop of 6000 Catholics scattered all over in 9 civil districts proclaiming and living the Good News. Through the available resources the diocese is actively engaged in reaching out to the people of all groups and religious thereby mounding communities, society and cultures with a deep and incisive influence of the Gospel values.

The diocese has appropriated three pronged vision and mission for its missionary activity. A pastoral and spiritual life, rooted in Faith and bearing Witness to God's Kingdom. A Value based education for all, cultivating a soft corner for the poor and deprived and providing an all round formation, making our wards intellectually alert, morally upright and socially committed. Proving socio-economic status to our people blossoming into an integrally developed community which is the Vision of the socio-economic status to our people blossoming into an integrally developed community which is the Vision of the socio-economic developmental activities in the diocese without any distinction of caste and religion.

You are welcome to visit our website and drop us an e-Mail to be our partners in the Mission of our Lord."

Rt. Rev. Anthony Fernandes
